The Rabbits travelled to Pilot Point for an early game today. Game time was 4:30 since Pilot Point is the only district field without lights. The first inning looked like the Rabbits wanted to wait until later to start playing. Cody McMurray gave up three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. All three shots were solid hits. The Bearcats kept this lead until the fifth inning. Bowie was putting the ball in play every inning but were unable to score until the fifth. The Rabbits scored five in that inning to take a 5 - 3 lead. The score stayed the same until the top of the seventh when Bowie broke loose and scored another six runs for an 11 - 3 lead. Pilot Point came to bat needing a big comeback and they almost got it. McMurray struggled in the seventh inning. Pilot Point was getting either walks or hits when they were supposed to have rolled over and played dead. They made it close enough that Rabbit fans started to tighten up a little bit and wonder if they were going to find a way to lose this game that they thought was in the bank. The tying run was on deck at one time before Bowie finally was able to get that third out to win the game with a final score of 11 - 8. Garytt Robinson and Bear Treadway led the Rabbits with both having strong games at the plate. Bowie's defense played better and did not make the costly errors that have hurt them in earlier games. This game gives Bowie and Pilot Point records of 3 - 5 in district. Sanger comes to Bowie Friday night. Hopefully, the Rabbits won't face the same pitcher that Sanger threw at them last time and will be able to extend their win streak to two. Is one win considered a streak?
