Jackrabbits Implode
The Sanger Indians came to town Friday night and laughed themselves out of town with a 10 - 0 victory over the Rabbits. If there was a mistake to be made, the Rabbits were finding a way to do it. Nine errors are hard to overcome when you're playing good. When you only get two hits, it's impossible. The Rabbits kicked balls, dropped balls, threw balls in the dirt, and did everything but hit a ball. Garytt Robinson was the starting pitcher for Bowie. Sanger scored six runs in the first inning before letting Bowie get their three at bats in. Bowie got their two hits in the fourth inning. Up until then the Sanger pitcher had a perfect game going. Garytt Robinson came to bat in the fourth with two outs. Garytt lined a double between center field and right. Cody McMurray came up next with a walk. Bear Treadway got an infield single which loaded the bases with two outs. Timothy Bendure came up to the plate. Timothy took it to a full count but went down swinging at a hard breaking curve to end the Rabbits' only sign of life. These were the only base runners Bowie would have for the night. In the top of the fifth, Sanger was leading 9 - 0 with two outs and a runner on second. Their batter singled to move the runner to third. If Sanger could score the runner on third, it would make the score 10 - 0 which could be enough for a run rule. Sanger's runner on first tried a delayed steal and got caught in a rundown. While the Rabbits were working on getting the runner caught between first and second, the runner on third trotted in to score the tenth run without the Rabbits even making a play at him. Bowie got the runner out in the rundown but the damage had already been done. Now the Rabbits had to score or the game was over. Guess what happened! The Rabbits didn't score. Game over. Sanger wins. This season is not over though. The Rabbits can still pull this out if they would get mentally prepared for these games and quit the Little League errors and hit the ball. They'll need at least three wins out of the next four games but it can be done. They just need to reach down and play ball the way they are capable of. Have some life to you when you come to the game. Don't come out with your heads hanging, wondering how you are going to lose the game today. Playing good baseball is contagious. Two or three start playing well and a couple more will start. Before you know it, you're winning games and looking forward to the next one. We won't give up on you. Don't give up on yourselves.

WOW...tell us what you really think ! Actually, what you said is 100% the truth, so too bad if someone doesn't like reading it. The current Bowie athletes must deal with the fact that the success they had for the past three years prior to this year had a lot to do with them having superstar teammates who no longer are there. The athletes who remain must create their own legacy. Holding their heads down will not cut it.
This is better than reading the Sports page in the Bowie News....someone should submit it to the news...then stand back and watch the reaction....lookout !
How dare you criticize my son and the team the way you have ! Your son probably couldn't even make the team or sits on the bench !
Well, anonymous, what can I say? I wasn't trying to be overly critical of the team. I don't think any of them would disagree with what is printed. What part do you find out of line? I totally believe that Friday night's game is not indicative of how this team can play. Their defense should be their strongest tool. This is a young team and capable of going a long way and I believe they will. They are learning every game. If I said anything out of line or anything to hurt anyone's feelings, I sincerely apologize. These writings are meant to be fun not mean.
Whoever got their feelings hurt needs to get a life. The facts are what they are. The team has not played well. It hasn't hit and the defense has been horrible. 9 errors in the last game ? You have to play really bad to make that many errors in one game. The team will not make the playoffs this year. Maybe if the returning players get their act together before next year, they might be able to compete in 2A.
the post i right... and especially the first comment.. i know first hand that the team in past years has been able to put a pither on the mound and know they're going to win.. its not like that this year.. the team must come to not only play but compete every game.. its not a hard concept they did it in the 2nd argyle game and argyle is one of the best teams in the area. but this year is a total shock to the team who by the way could still mathematically make the playoffs by winning out and decatur loses a few.. but highly unlikely
